THE GAME
You are locked in an underground bank vault from the 1960s with a single way out: a three-metre steel door with one lock. In the middle of the room sits a mountain of one million brass keys. Exactly one of them opens the door.
One Million Keys is a relaxing, slightly absurd first-person simulator about doing one thing really well: pick up keys, test keys, throw keys away. The mountain is real: every one of the 1,000,000 keys exists, sinks as you dig and disappears when you take it. Before long you have a shovel in hand, two funnels pulling keys onto a conveyor belt, an automatic tester slamming batches into the lock and a furnace turning every wrong key into brass. Brass buys upgrades. Upgrades empty the mountain faster. The mountain shrinks. The right key gets closer.
The clock only stops at the very end. What's behind the door is for you to find out.
TRAILER
25-second trailer: the vault door, the mountain of one million keys seen from the entrance, a hand digging, the shovel flinging keys, the door testing keys, funnels and a conveyor belt carrying keys to the tester, the X-ray revealing the right key and the door starting to open with warm light. It ends with the logo and “Coming soon on Steam”.
Sound on: every key has its own clink.

Start with empty hands and room for ten keys. Pick one, walk to the door, turn it. Clank.
Dig into the pile by hand. Every key you take makes the mountain sink a little.
Turn them in the lock one by one. Clank. Wrong.
Every wrong key goes into the furnace and comes out as brass.
Brass buys the shovel. The shovel brings twenty keys at a time.
Every wrong key pays brass; brass pays for upgrades; upgrades bring wrong keys faster. The loop closes itself.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Each one is counted, lowers the pile when you dig and falls with physics when you throw it. No painted-on pile.
A vault that looks like a vault: warm light from industrial lamps, dust in the air, brass that reflects, a steel door that groans. A real sound for every clink.
PROGRESSION
Hand, shovel, magnet, funnels with a conveyor belt and an automatic tester: 189 upgrades in 7 branches.
More capacity, more reach, more speed.
Test several keys at once and throw the whole handful at the door.
Sweep chunks of the mountain in one go.
A machine next to the door that tests batches on its own.
Pull keys from the mountain straight to the tester.
Clues that close in on the right key.
More brass per wrong key.
Before long you have a shovel in hand, two funnels pulling keys onto a conveyor belt, an automatic tester slamming batches into the lock and a furnace turning every wrong key into brass.
SCENT
A beeping detector, a compass, a glow, a halo and an X-ray: the Scent closes in as the pile gets smaller.
MODES
Refill the vault and race your own time with everything you bought.
Purist mode: hands only.
Every run has a seed code, like M65Z-7GZ. Send it to a friend and see who finds the key first.
Every key tested by every player adds to the same number, shown in the main menu.
What's behind the door is for you to find out.
No spoilers here. Promise.
